I am an astrophysicist and planetary scientist.  I'm just starting at APL after finishing a postdoc at the Carnegie Institution for Science Earth and Planets Laboratory (EPL) where I used numerical modeling tools to study the formation of the solar system.  In particular, my work focused on the formation of the 4 terrestrial planets and are informed by geophysical and cosmochemical constraints (i.e.: analyses of meteorites and material from sample return missions).  Before arriving starting graduate school, I spent 5 years on active duty in the Navy, where I was stationed on the nuclear powered fast attack submarine USS TOPEKA (SSN-754). I first served as the ship's Chemistry and Radiological Controls Officer, and later as the Assistant Engineer. I was also a qualified Navy Scuba Diver and served as the ship's Diving Division Officer.
