My research has focused on the magnetospheres of the outer planets, including their planetary radiation belts and satellites.  My interests include the weathering of surfaces in space and how surface characteristics can be understood by optical measurements. An active area of my work has been quantifying radiation effects on icy surfaces. I was a Co-I on the Cassini mission to Saturn and the Deputy PI of the particle instrument (MIMI). Currently, I am a Co-Investigator on the Juno mission to Jupiter and a Co-I on the infrared instrument (MISE) on the Europa Clipper mission.
